History of the Yacht:
In 1992, Northseas Yachts relocated the construction site of its Monk 36 Trawler Yachts, from Taiwan to Nova Scotia. For approximately three years (1993, 1994, 1995), Monk 36, who had become famous for the excellence and seaworthiness of its yachts, continued to build its interiors throughout with solid teak and unsurpassed joinery. Concurrently, during that 3-year period, the designers and builders created a low maintenance exterior of metal vs. wood window frames. non-skid vs. teak decks, etc.
By 1995, although the solid teak was much preferred, the solid teak interiors had become far too expensive. So Northseas, and other leading trawler yacht builders and designers, switched to veneer vs. solid teak. the 1994 Monk 36 trawler yacht, Derreen, is one of the few limited edition Monk 36s built during that 3-year period.
In addition to its prized solid teak interior, custom features that were designed and constructed by Hollenbach were added.
